About the Artist

Artist Statement
I find myself enthralled by the process of ceramic art creation. I am drawn to working either in a highly textural fashion or with a layering and interlacing of line and/or colour. This latter method of expression is an inheritance from my background in printmaking and in the future, this legacy will probably maintain its influence on my choices of surface decoration. A connection to the natural world and my surroundings motivates my selection of organically-based imagery and form. As well, many of my pieces refer to my particular psychological and sociological world-view. Years of training and work as a counsellor and my experiences as a parent also prompt my content choices. Finally, childhood experiences and a deep appreciation for humour leave their traces as I am drawn into a visual exploration of human folly and my own part in the daily melodrama. As my artistic voice deepens, I imagine that the marriage of these elements in various patterns will continue. Artist CV
